Our Services:
We
take a holistic approach when plants are exhibiting visible
signs of stress. It is critical to consider all of the factors that
effect a plants growth. Plant Health Care (PHC) is a holistic
program that leads to healthy, worry free, satisfying landscapes
through continued planning and monitoring of all aspects of the
environment. PHC involves a wide range of activities including:
-
Plant Selection
can make the difference between a plant that goes through life
with constant maintenance issues and a plant that develops in
to a beautiful legacy with very little maintenance. We can help
in choosing "the right plant for the right place."
-
Consultation
we are available to provide our expert advice from broad reaching
goals to unique situations.
- Pruning
is important for several reasons. It is the main means in developing
structural correctness of growing trees and shrubs. It allows
for maintaining clearance of structures, streets, other plants,
utility lines etc. Pruning also allows us to remove dead, diseased,
and dying limbs that can aid in the spread of certain diseases
and become safety hazards. But pruning can be a major source
of stress on mature trees and shrubs when improperly done. All
of our cuts are made according to the ANSI A300 standard. Also
with our belief that every leaf has its purpose, you can be
assured that our pruning is done with a strategic air to provide
necessary clearances while maintaining and improving the natural
structure of your trees and shrubs.
-
Cabling & Bracing are sometimes necessary to support
co-dominant stems and potentially weak branch attachment in
mature trees. We are excited to now offer "cobra"
dynamic support systems. The advantages of this new technology
are great, it does not use invasive hardware that is drilled
into wood and it allows the tree more natural movement to encourage
continued development of wood around the supported attachment.
- Root
zone invigoration
can be performed using a supersonic air tool to incorporate
organic matter and alleviate soil compaction around mature trees
and shrubs, while leaving critical fibrous roots intact that
would otherwise be destroyed by a conventional tiller.
- Root
collar excavations
that restore the proper grade to the base of the plant as well
as allow for a look at proper planting depth, as well as potential
problems associated with this region.
- Lab
tests of plants tissue and soil are used to identify possible
deficiencies.
- Fertilization
plays a key role in urban landscapes due to the constant removal
of shed plant material such as leaves, twigs, and fruit. Along
with mulching and aeration we can supplement important nutrients
that help plants grow with the vigor found in an undisturbed
site.
- Integrated
Pest Management is
a comprehensive collection of activities used to reduce pest
populations. In keeping with our core values of protecting our
environment and reducing our impact on the planet, our IPM program
involves many biological controls such as horticultural oil,
beneficial insects, and hand pruning of infested plant parts.
In pairing IPM strategies with other organic activities such
as root zone invigoration and fertilization with many organic
sources we are able to greatly reduce, and in some cases eliminate
the use of chemical products.
-
Removal is sometimes a necessary part of a landscape
management plan. Severe storm damage, lightning strikes soil
compaction, and many factors can put trees into an irreversible
decline. Occasionally thinning of saplings from a heavily wooded
area to encourage growth of select individual trees may be necessary
as well as removing certain plants for building projects. When
removal is necessary, we are trained and experienced in complete
debris clean up and minimizing impact to surrounding plantings.
- Stump
grinding once
a plant has been removed we can complete the job by grinding
the stump to well below grade leaving behind an area ready for
replanting, or any other use.
Through
our services we are able to use a systematic combination of knowledge
and tools to approach woody plant problem solving. If we can not
accurately identify the problems affecting the landscape onsite,
we will take detailed notes, samples, pictures, etc. to complete
further research off site. Trust only a true professional resource
with the care of trees and shrubs; they are perhaps one of the most
valuable resources on earth.
